How It Works
Under the hood
Archangel's weapon detection model is trained on thousands of scenarios involving visible weapons, concealment behaviour, and the distinctive shapes and movements associated with carrying bladed or ballistic weapons. The system analyses object shapes, how they move relative to the body, and the behavioural context around them.
For visible weapons, detection is shape-based. The model recognises the silhouette of knives, bottles held as weapons, and other objects in aggressive contexts. It distinguishes between a chef carrying a kitchen knife in a hotel kitchen (expected) and someone pulling a blade in a bar area (critical alert).
Concealment indicators are more nuanced. The model identifies behaviours like repeated touching of the waistband, asymmetric clothing hang patterns, and the distinctive gait changes that come with carrying a concealed object. These signals build a confidence score that, combined with other contextual factors like location and time, determines the alert level.
